An environmental diagnostic tool
Orhane is an environmental diagnostic tool for communities, which provides mapping at the scale of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, on the exposure of inhabitants to air and noise pollution. The platform is accessible online for communities and citizens alike (www.orhane.fr).
Mapping makes it possible to identify the areas at stake: those which are preserved from these nuisances and which should be protected, and those which are highly exposed and where action must be taken. After initially focusing on the Rhône-Alpes part, the map now extends to Auvergne.
The indicator of this double exposure to noise and air pollution was developed by Cerema from a homogenised database, which notably integrates road, air and rail traffic. The platform also serves to estimate the population exposed to these nuisances.
Upcoming developments in 2019
In order to meet the needs, the platform will undergo several developments in 2019:

A building shell quality indicator to better estimate population exposure to noise,

Cross-referencing of air-noise data with the location of establishments receiving vulnerable groups (health establishments, accommodating young people or the elderly, schools, etc.),

Comparison with socio-economic and health indicators (under study in partnership with the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Regional Health Observatory).
Cerema participates, with its partners Acoucité and Atmo-Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, in the consolidation of databases and in the production of noise and multi-exposure maps. It develops and validates the methodologies put in place and provides feedback at the national level.
